One finished item

I got back yesterday. (Still tired, and I think I got something in the various road-food I got that contained one of my food intolerances....I'll spare you the details).

But I did do some knitting over break. The biggest thing was to finish a horizon rib scarf (link is to a blog from some years back but apparently the pattern is only on Ravelry). I thought I had been working on this for a very long time but apparently I started it in December 2021? (I honestly thought I had started it back in the before-times). That's actually pretty fast for a project like this for me.

(I don't think scarves are a *great* first-knitting project: they take forever, are mostly just the same thing over and over again. I think if I were teaching someone to knit I'd start with one of those corner to corner dishcloths - they are fast and even if they're not *perfect* they still work. Or a hat, if the person wanted to brave circular knitting (which is not as difficult as it looks)

Anyway. I used a Red Heart color-shifting yarn. Sadly, I don't remember the name of the yarn itself (And I don't have the ballbands); the colorway was Montreal (I do remember that)

(Hang on let me check and see if I can find it on google)

Yeah, Colorscape is the name of the yarn. I used either 2 or 3 balls of it. The scarf was a little shorter than maybe I originally wanted (I had an extra ball but just left it up at my mom's to save space on the trip back). But I got tired of working on it, it was "long enough," and I wanted it to be done.

Here's a close up of the rib. It's sort of a simple alternating rib and once you get the pattern down in your mind you don't have to keep track of rows. (But I did try to stop at the end of Row 4 - the end of the pattern - to avoid any confusion when I would set it down for a while).

And the scarf on. Unfortunately I'll probably not have a chance to wear it before this fall; we're heading into the warm part of the year.

That looks great! I love scarves. And in Buffalo you get around six months of plausible scarf weather each year!
