I didn't get nearly as much knitting as I planned over break, but at least I did finish an item I'd been working on since Christmas, and which is probably the most complicated piece of knitting (in terms of having to pay attention to what you're doing) since the before-times.
Also, this was one of the cases (rare for me) where I see a yarn and want it, and also know what I want to make. I saw this deep red (the color is called "Zinnia") Malabrigo sock yarn at Quixotic Fibers and decided I wanted to make fingerless mitts out of it.
It took a bit to find the ideal pattern; I finally decided on Javajem Knits' "Merletto Mitts," which is a lace-and-cable pattern. I had to rip back and restart the first time because I messed up and couldn't easily see how to fix the lace pattern (Lace, if you mess it up, gets off-track really easily).
Once I got in the groove, though, they worked.
Here they are (well, one of them, I needed my other hand to take the photo) on:
It's not a solid color, but it's not one that obscures the pattern TOO much.
