The TL; DR: she's safe, she's on her way back home. Her car's a little messed up but that's another problem for another day
So I came home, and got my exercise in. I was relaxing a bit when the phone rang - One of my moms' neighbors
Asking: did she have any appointments today that I knew of? I said no, and then remembered that she said she was going to try driving somewhere that she thought she had forgotten the route to, I was able to describe where. (This was at about 20 after 5, it's now quarter to 6)
The neighbor said that they had the police out looking and had tracked her car to a couple places (I suppose with things like red light cameras) but still hadn't located her
I'm terrified.
SHe had gotten a bit forgetful in recent months, and was less comfortable with driving. I hope she didn't get in an accident or completely and totally lost and panicked a bit (like me, she's anxious and can freak out a little if she gets lost.) I hope she didn't have a medical issue on the road or get in a car crash
I don't know what to do. If she's.....if she's (deep breath) dead, I don't know if I have to go up there right away. I don't knwo HOW to easily get up there unless I can get a train ticket on short notice and if I will be okay to drive to the station, and anyway, it's too late to go tonight, the train for today will already have left.
I mean, I knew to brace for this some time sooner or later but I don't want it to be this soon. I want to get a call saying she's OK and home
Oh, the neighbor just called: the cops know where her car is, it's moving. I hope they can some how guide her back home but at least at this point she's okay. This is not normal for her, I wonder if something medical is going on.
And they've lost her again. Apparently she has to drive past a camera for them to know where she is. I wish she would pull over for help or stop to get gas (she must be running low by this point)
6:23pm: police called, asked if I wanted to declare her missing. I said yes. I don't know what that triggers but I'm afraid now it's going to be a bad outcome.
