* Interweave (or rather: Golden Peak Media) IS going to refund my the balance of my subscription. So there's that. I guess in the future I just buy patterns direct from designers. I mean, I don't LOVE "digital patterns" because I have to print them out then, and they're not collected in a book without my doing additional work, but whatever.
* I also got another refund, one I wasn't expecting: there was a check from my dealership/mechanic's. It turns out the "deposit" I paid back in the summer when they were trying to find out what was affecting my air conditioning (the thing that turned out to be wasps) DIDN'T have to be applied to the fix (as I presumed it had) and they just never got it refunded until settling up their books at the end of the year.
I actually called the place to be sure - I didn't want it to have been an accident I'd have to repay - and they verified it was the deposit refund. (I put it in my savings account, which I am trying to slowly build back up. It was TEMPTING to just cash it and then think about spending it on "fun stuff," but this weekend is going to be miserable weather, and so it won't be good to get out. So I might as well put it in savings)
* I did run to wal-mart this afternoon, against my better judgment. I was thinking "might be best to stock up in case there is the bad weather." Already some shelves were pretty empty (though it's hard to know whether that's slow restocking, being at the end of the distribution chain here, or people buying it all up), but as I tend to buy things other than convenience foods, I got most of what I wanted, including the makings for okonimiyaki, which may be this weekend's dinners. Hopefully I have enough milk (limited fridge space at home) until the bad weather passes.
Of course if the power goes out I'm stuck eating cold things or stuff out of cans, but hopefully that doesn't happen.
* I still have a stack of Christmas cards that came in over my break to open, but Monday and tonight were meetings at church, and last night....I guess I was just really wiped out then. I did something to my right knee while traveling, probably hyperextended it, and it was hurting badly but I also had to get twigs for the systematics lab so I spend part of the afternoon hobbling around the outside of my building with a pair of trimmers. I got a few of them, probably enough given the weather will be okay to walk around campus a bit tomorrow. (I was grabbing them just in case it rained). I also have a branch that came down off my pecan but still had intact buds in the backseat of my car.
the knee is slowly getting better but I always forget how much energy and attention coping with pain takes - this would make me hurt intensely and feel like my knee was going to collapse for a moment after standing up from my chair. (But ironically? It gets better upon standing or walking). Lifting my leg at the knee has been hard so some "dressing" tasks have been a bit more complicated. Hopefully it's nearly better.
