few quick photos

Had an allergy attack today - we have a new roof leak (same as the old roof leak) and apparently there's a lot of mold in my building right now. I'm still dealing with a running nose and racing heart from it; I hope it gets better overnight.

Anyway. A couple photos from my travels over the weekend. It had just started snowing as we got through Alton and then got heavier as we approached St. Louis

The "Gateway to the West" (which most people call the St. Louis Arch) has a new lighting system, but it was still hard to see with the snow and clouds. This was looking across the river; we had not yet crossed the Mississippi.

And here we are coming in to St. Louis in the snow. The lit-up thing off to the left is the arch, it's kind of hard to see. This is as we are crossing the Mississippi.

And St. Louis is a "smoke break" (or fresh air break for those of us who don't smoke, if we can find a spot enough away from the smokers. I wanted to just get out for a little to see the snow - other than a brief flurry when I first arrived at my mom's, there was NO snow, just lots of clouds and greyness

I just pointed my cell phone camera up. (someone on bluesky joked that it looked like going into hyperspace).

I've been picking away at the Vintage Christmas yarn socks, but it's slow; I was out two days this week in the evening and tonight I did not feel great.

This was a yarn from Two Sisters Yarn Company (sold through Etsy). It's a tweedy yarn and it has various "muted pastel" color stripes - sort of a gold, a pink, two greens, a purplish grey, a lavender, and a turquoise. Maybe like 1950s Christmas colors? I've seen photos of old ornaments that featured pinks and turquoise.

Anyway. I'm just doing a simple sock pattern on it but am doing an eye-of-partridge heel, which requires a bit more attention when you're working the flap.

Finished the first sock up there, just barely began the second.

I have another in-progress thing to show, maybe tomorrow, and one more finished thing.

But for now - feels like my heart rate has dropped back to near normal (that was scary) and I think I should go to bed. (I was probably also dehydrated, drinking water seemed to help)
