* very sore; having to walk with crutches and use my left side for my entire weight is throwing everything out of alignment and my lower back and hip on that side hurt a lot
* less pain in the knee though; I'm hoping I dodged a big bullet (blowing a tendon) and even a smaller one (badly overstretching things). I made the follow up appointment with my doctor for Tuesday afternoon (a bit more than a week after I did it) and I'm hoping she'll either let me lose the immobilizer or transition to a cane from crutches or SOMETHING. I really hate the immobilizer; it works okay if you're lying down or have your leg up on a footstool but with the crutches it just slips down and is heavy and hot. It doesn't stay up on anything: not on bare skin (like wearing a nightgown without stockings or pajama pants), not on knit pants, not on woven-material pants. I guess the idea with these things is that you really ARE mostly immobile and I can't do that.
* I would be happy if the doctor okayed me to go to a smaller brace, ideally an elastic one that stays put. Always fussing with the immobilizer (refastening the too-many velcro straps, pulling it back up) makes me cranky.
* I did pick up the groceries today. In the end, I got them in the house by loading them in a large backpack I had and strapping it on. It was a lot of effort and I did almost fall on my porch steps (so I'm hoping before I need more shopping, I'll be able to at least put a little weight on the leg.)
* At least tomorrow I have only one class. I feel like a slug in that I've been doing essentially nothing but teaching my classes and the absolutely necessary life-maintenance (I did laundry last night, it was difficult because I can't fit the rolling chair in the space where the washer and dryer are, and they're stacked units, so I have to be able to react up for the dryer. I have one of those "grabber" things but it's limited in what it can do.
