I started the decreases for this hat while giving an exam today, and decided to finish them tonight - there wasn't enough left to do on it for a long exam tomorrow (in a minute I will cast on a pair of fingerless mitts, maybe for me, maybe for a gift, to do for invigilating knitting tomorrow.
The hat is knit of a really, super-nice yarn (and I wish I still had the tag? I think it was a Rambouillet blend) from Quixotic Fibers; the owner of the shop had dyed it herself. It was one of those yarns where I touched it and said "I need this and I need to make something with it" - it's a very nice squishy/springy yarn, and it's a pretty color
And even though I am in pajamas and have no makeup on (washed my hair and face earlier this evening), here it is on. It has a double-knit brim to be extra warm; the crown is just a simple waffle pattern. I did size it down a bit; the original was 90 stitches to fit a man's head; I took it down to 84 and just readjusted the decreases a little (and they mostly still worked). If I were making one for a man I'd definitely make the full size; this fits snugly on me and I have an average or slightly smaller head for a woman (but lots of hair)
The pattern is called Deers and Beers; the pattern-writer is Bella Gofton. I bought it off of Ravelry, and as I noted, the yarn came from Quixotic Fibers
