* First of all - I mostly worked on the cowl this weekend. I'm about halfway through the first chart, so I have a while to go on it yet:
It's not very impressive yet but you can see the cabling.
I did not take it as an invigilating project; I decided it would take too much concentration, so I took the worsted weight fingerless mitts again - I will also work on them Thursday for the exam then.
I spent most of the evening grading, so no farther on it
* I also got a flu shot. This was a lot easier than the covid booster, which....it seems like every shot aimed at protecting public health should be simple to get. I called my pharmacy, they had it, they said that walk-ins were fine (no having to book an appointment online and fill out online paperwork). There was one page of paperwork to fill out there and then one of the techs put on gloves and stepped out from behind the counter and gave me the shot; took less than ten minutes from when I walked in the door.
I'm a little sore tonight and have a slight headache; I hope it wasn't a mistake doing it on a "school night." Then again - all I have to do tomorrow is lead an exam review in my one class, and I should write an exam for next week
* But I also got the next set of bags, despite this
Yeah, I had remembered it as "open on October 23" which is today, but it's actually tomorrow.
I admit I was annoyed when I got out there; and there were no cars there and it was threatening rain (and is supposed to storm tomorrow) so I figured "well, I won't have to go in FAR and there's probably no one here" and I also realized the barn coat I had in the car had an orange lining, so I turned it inside out and wore it for safety.
As I was grabbing the second set of samples I heard a truck drive up, and thought "oh no"
It was Corps guys going to do some work. Like I said, I think they could technically ticket me. As I was walking out I apologized to the lead guy and explained and said I thought the site was reopen today and the guy literally tapped the sign ("don't make me tap the sign") and I said yeah, but this was the second time I'd driven out there and I was done and he kind of just shrugged (and didn't give me a warning or anything).
I don't LIKE breaking the rules but the samples are already a week late. And even if I felt okay to go out and dig tomorrow, it might be storming.
* I did spend most of the evening grading. I didn't particularly want to but I wanted it done. I think I'm too tired now to do much else (and maybe should go to bed early after the vaccine)
