I gave an exam today and so I worked more on the hat. I got it up to the point of the brim turn.
It has a double brim - you knit the first half, and then do a round of just purl stitches, and then the second half of the ribbing.
Then you knit the cast-on row together with the active row:
So it's a double thickness, which makes it warmer (I had to kind of try it on to be sure it wasn't too small; the original pattern was 90 stitches sized for a man (23") and I downsized it by 2 repeats of the pattern (6 stitches) so I was hoping I did right by it. (I did).
And then next is the knit and purl pattern that makes the body of the hat:
I give another exam Monday and this is frankly easier than the other projects I have going (in terms of portability) so I don't want to do TOO much - so I can still work on it during that exam.
