I knew today had to be the filling-the-litter-bags day, but first - when I got up and saw that it was relatively cool and dry outside, I thought, "I could work out, or I could mow the lawn as a workout." So I did that, which meant I got over to school maybe a bit later than I might have.
I tried to estimate the time it might take - always a bad idea. I have 108 bags, so I thought, "well, if it takes me 2 minutes to fill one, that's about four hours. (Wrong, as it turned out - the grassland litter was by far the worst because you had to chop it up and fold it to get it in the bag.)
And I ran out of lespedeza litter
yes I know that looks a little....questionable.....but it is sericea lespedeza leaves, four grams of them (about what will fit in a litter bag).
Also I had to run all over to find things - weigh boats and scrap paper to put under the bags when I labeled them so the ink would not bleed through onto the lab bench - and that took longer.
At any rate - I got 20 of 36 bags done before I ran out of leaves, so then I ran BACK out to the field site for more. It's in the drying oven overnight and I'll have to do the last bit tomorrow BUT it might be storming so it may not matter that I can't get out right away to bury the bags.
then I ate a quick lunch, and got back a little after 1 (I had worked from 9 until almost noon).
I finished with what I had right around five. So I'm pretty beat.
Over the weekend I FINALLY got to some of the Moominhouse kits I hadn't taken time to do......and discovered a missing piece (a wall of the kitchen stove). I e-mailed the company but haven't heard back, I sure hope they can replace it. Maybe if they can't I can try to fabricate something out of heavy cardstock or maybe a painted bit of quilt-template plastic but I'd rather have the proper piece.
I also probably need to get some clear finish to put on the floor piece - it's recommended, but they didn't include any in the kit (possibly, it could not be shipped - aerosol).
I also got the John-Boy socks up to the heel turn on the second sock, but I'm not sure I have the energy tonight to do it....
