ETA at a bit after 8:30 - the worst of the storms slid south of us, and they also weakened before they got here. So we just got rain. I guess some areas near Sherman got bad hail, though - we didn't get that, either.
* Big storms on the way, I seem to be in the path. There was massive hail in Lawton, and apparently a tornado in Healdton.
I have my preparations done: bathtub is dried out and clean, I have a stack of pillows and blankets to dive under if necessary, I have my purse, medications, sturdy shoes and decent clothes, and flashlights in the bathroom. And my phone is plugged in charging in there.
I don't like this. It's been terrifically humid this week and humidity is very bad as far as storms are concerned; it makes them stronger. (I'll post something later after it's passed, just so y'all know I'm OK)
* I ran to Pruett's this afternoon; I had had a loaf of wheat bread (it was a "small slice" loaf, too, more's the pity - I like that kind) but it had gotten moldy (faster than I thought it would). And I really wanted some whole wheat bread. (Dinner was a quick scrambled egg, some Harvard beets - Aunt Nellies makes a good version of it in jars, and it's EASY then, and bread and jam)
But I walked by the bakery. And saw this, and had to grab a quick photo because it made me chuckle
Homer sliding back into the hedge, which has become a meme.
It also made me miss my dad; he was a BIG Simpsons fan and if he were still around I admit I'd probably have tried to find a way to get one of these to him.
* I guess what I was hoping for - catching a couple re-runs of Ghosts and then So Help Me Tod - won't happen tonight, the local weather guy (the best local weather guy) is on CBS and of course they are pre-empting the shows with wall to wall coverage of weather. (It's probably about 40 miles from me right now, but like I said - I'm ready to head into the bathroom and jump into the dry bathtub under pillows and blankets just in case.
* If there isn't too much storm damage, and it's safe to go out, either tomorrow afternoon or Saturday I want to do another antique shop run; I realize how much I missed that during the worst of the pandemic. I found out about a place about 15 miles to the east of me, which is fairly new but is supposed to be nice, so I might run over there - or I might go to the big three-floor antique mall in Sherman. (If I went there I could do "bigger" grocery shopping at the same time)
* Mostly worked on class prep this week but I now feel pretty secure in my understanding of ANCOVA and two-way ANOVA and a couple of other things. But it does make me tired and the days seem very lank and long when I'm not doing much in the way of *different* things.
* At this point (7:03 pm) it looks like the northern edge of the storm (which will likely clip us) has weakened considerably, so we might miss the worst.
