* Week's nearly over, and the semester is nearly over. I sent in my last final of the semester to be copied today. I do still have the hourly exams I gave this week to grade, and the plant collections, and then will have the exams. But maybe I can say I survived teaching systematic botany, seeing as the lectures and labs are now done? There are things I'll have to change for next time, but at least I have the basics ready to go.
* Didn't get any knitting done yesterday; I was grading the ecology research papers until 8:45 pm. Several of them were pretty good and really all of the presentations were better than acceptable so I am reasonably pleased. This is a lot of work for me but maybe it's worth it? I don't know. I might alter it for next time and make the paper due earlier and in a "good finished draft" format and then have rewrites. (Also that can help defeat GPT/LLM writing the papers for them, though with a research project it seems less likely than something like an opinion paper. I hate we have to think like "cops" though)
* Over the weekend (before the food poisoning hit) I did start a new project - I had bought a pattern for a crocheted tiger from an Etsy seller. It called for worsted weight chenille, but that's not easily available, so I bought a Bernat bulky weight. I HOPE I am going to have enough - I am not sure how the recommended yardages compare. (But I also have more balls of it for a red panda stuffie, so if I have to break into that, I can - and then probably get more, that yarn is from JoAnn's).
* I have to figure out some gifts quickly. My sister-in-law's birthday is on the 3rd, and we do traditionally exchange gifts, although they haven't sent me mine yet. (And yes. I am going to be nice and send her a gift; I sent my brother a gift on HIS birthday and he's usually the one tasked with getting gifts for me so he's the one who's slacking). And for Mother's Day - I think I am going to call the good garden shop in her town and have them send her a gift certificate - she has already shopped there this spring so I know she's still gardening. And I know the garden shop does them, I e-mailed and asked). For her birthday - well, if I had been thinking last week at the Heard, I could have got her a t-shirt; maybe there will be something good in Denison and maybe I take a run down there either on a day off during finals or after they're over. Other option would be a food gift but I didn't see anything I liked for Mother's Day.
I think the garden-center gift certificate is a good gift for Mother's Day, though.
* I want to either start something new, or pull out and finish one of the ongoing sweaters but it's hard to overcome inertia when you're tired at the end of the day (it was a bit after 5 when I got home today). I may just work on the blanket this evening because it's simple and doesn't require much thought.
I have the linen-stitch sweater, and a partially-finished vest, and A Cardigan for John (that's what I want to finish next), and I have to figure out again where I am on Incunabula and start that again.
