One more thing

The electrician just finished up.

I admit, I had to summon a bit of my inner Flutterb*tch here, because the head guy said "Someone will be there at four or a few minutes after" and I said "Got it" and so I ran out of the Gen Ed Council meeting a couple minutes before it was finished SO I COULD BE HOME

because, my feeling was: If I'm not home and the guy gets here, he'll just leave, and I'll be sent to the back of the queue again, and I don't want that. (I had told the chair of the Council what was going on, and he told me to go ahead and leave if I had to).

So I ran home. Frantically cleaned everything off that counter (EVEN before stopping for a pee break, which I badly needed). Wiped the counter down so it was clean. Stacked most of the stuff on my range.

No guy.

Took my pee break.

No guy.

Swept the floor, moved a few other things.

Still no guy.

At this point it was closing in on 4:30. I waited a bit more.

Finally, I called the head guy: "I just wanted to let you know, I'm home here, I'm ready for the guy to show up."(Okay, so maybe not so very Flutterb*tchy, but even me CALLING again is a huge thing for me).

Finally, like five minutes before five, the guy called back: "He's on his way. The previous job, the person wasn't home, so he had to wait on them."

Oh, okay. I didn't know that was an option? I didn't know I could make a workman wait on ME. (Not ever gonna test it out, though)

At any rate: It looks like it WAS just the outlet. I also asked him to rewire the switch for the Insinkerator if he could (my friend Tim rewired it once but said he doubted it could be rewired a second time as the wires were very short....I'm guessing either this guy was better or he pigtailed in new wires)

He tells me he got the Insinkerator working from the switch. I have not tried anything nor have I plugged anything in to the new outlet, but I might roll my dehumidifier back in there again (it's back in my hall, plugged into the GFCI in the bathroom) and run it in there again; it's a bit easier.

But hopefully things are on the upswing? Getting J-H to refund me at least part of my money, the CPA fixing the problem for far less money than I expected, and now the broken outlet JUST being a broken outlet? Oh, and getting the tree branch dealt with with help....

I give an exam tomorrow, and we're having the lunch (and hooray, now I don't have to gulp-n-blow because I'm not waiting on an electrician - I was going to ask the person bringing the main dish if I could quick grab a plate early so I could be home by noon, but no worries about that now). Friday I give another exam (and teach my other two classes) BUT things somehow seem easier now.

(I might be able to get the next stage of research finished up tomorrow and Friday. And get my grading done and the exam for next week written. If I to, I am going to Sherman unless we have another downpour or something).

I mean, these things still don't fix the big losses I've had these past 2 months, but at least they're worries off my mind.

Glad to hear the little things did turn out to be little things. Here's hoping things will continue to improve for you.
