- The CPA called, my stuff is done, and I can go take care of it tomorrow before my grief counseling appointment. (which may eventually just become REGULAR counseling, because my life is upsetting and dissatisfying now and I don't know how much a counselor could help other than "yeah, this isn't right and this stinks" so I don't feel like I'm a whiner)
- Jackson-Hewett called me back, the new regional rep said she was immediately having what I paid for the tax prep refunded (about $450) and since I paid for the guarantee (which she is not refunding yet, and she explained why), I should send in the information to her and they MIGHT refund the money I owed the IRS. (They might not, seeing as I defaulted to a CPA instead of going BACK to them, but I explained why: recently bereaved, in a hurry, the local J-H office was closed for the summer EVEN IF I trusted them to do it again. But whatever)
I'm still not going back to them, though. Still gonna use this CPA especially if he's able to bring this IRS misery to its end.
- I thought my Build-a-Bear okapi was delivered but stolen, but Fed Ex tells me that the "delivery date" they listed (and then took it down off their dashboard) was the hand-off to USPS for "SmartPost" (womp womp). And it will take three more days to get to me, even though it's apparently IN my town. (I don't even know, but whatever. At least it's not been stolen, that's all that matters).
- The electrician called back. He said most likely he'd be here Thursday, but if he or one of his guys finishes a job sometime shortly after 4 tomorrow or Wednesday, they'd try calling me to see if I was home, and if I was, they'd come out. He also seems pretty confident it's just the outlet and nothing worse. I hope he's right.
- I got off the committee. I still feel bad about that but I do think I'm overburdened right now. Someone from church asked me to serve on the search committee for the new minister and I said I didn't think I could take on anything more, and he nodded and said "Yeah, I can see that" and left it at that. (I have gotten so used, though, to always having to justify saying "no" to stuff like that, everyone thinks "single woman, no kids, she should do it")
- I ran out to the US Cellular after running to the bank (funds transfer into checking so I can just pay for the IRS crap easily) because my phone was draining power like whoa despite my barely using it. This time, I got an iPhone user and she showed me the "double touch and swipe up" bit to close all the apps - I guess I had been leaving Pandora "on" and it was draining power (Or at least it started doing so after the last iOS update) so hopefully knowing to do that now will help it not lose charge.
But yeah. I'm hoping this isn't just a little good bobble in all the bad, but a start of an actual turnaround.
