Gruss aus Teufelachselhöhle

(or at least that's what The Googles tells me "Devil's Armpit" is. I am suspicious about the second part of that word).

Oh my goodness is it HOT out there. I just had to take some paperwork to the Dean's office (long story short: I used the "wrong" travel claim form and can't get my money back until I use the "right" one). It's about a quarter mile as the crow flies from my office but instead of walking it as I normally would,. I drove there. Because even walking across the parking lot is almost too much right now.  The dewpoint is 68 right now. (Pretty much any dewpoint over 65, and I'm pretty miserable). The heat index is 102.

I am not looking forward to fieldwork this weekend even though I will probably start around 7 so I can be done by noon.

This is the time of year I hate. I want to do "fun" things but it is too hot to even contemplate walking from my car to a "fun" thing, so I mostly stay home and hide in my house-cave ("cave" because I keep the blinds closed to try to keep SOME of the heat out).

Apparently "Achsel" refers to the armpit's location and "höhle" to the actual hollow spot. So it's like saying "armpit-hole."

I know you really wanted to know this ;)
