Bright stripey socks

One of the things I finished - actually, one of the things I made in its entirety - over break was a pair of socks using String Theory Colorworks' "Continuum" striping yarn in a colorway called "Sombrero Galaxy" (Apparently, the dyer names all the colorways after astronomical objects.

They are very bright.

But sometimes you want really bright socks.

Bright stripey socks

I also sort of think of them as my "Gibbs! Gibbs! Gibbs!" socks - they do look a bit like something Abby Sciuto might wear. (I didn't have enough yarn - or enough patience- to consider knitting them as kneesocks, which would be a bit more Abby-like). (And I'd really need a pair of clunky, platform-type Mary Janes to wear them with in that case, rather than the mellower Birkenstocks I usually wear my handknit socks with.)

They make me smile. And they match with exactly zero of the outfits I own (short of black slacks, white shirt - which I might wear them with some cold day over to campus, just to see what people's reactions are).

The socks are Abby-riffic! She'd probably also have a matching scarf/muffler.
