Well, it's shaping up to be a good end to the week.
First of all, I won Em's contest! Yay! (And she's right, I'd not put it past the makers of vi*gr* or ci*lis to use "Sex Machine" as an ad-tune. [I already am seriously grossed out by the "Wild Thing" commercials - the radio ones are even worse than the television ones. I mean, advertising-character-dude, I'm happy you're gettin' some, but I really do not need to know. Really.])
Second, I finished ALL the biomass bags. Forty plots with three samples each. For those keeping count, I had completed plots 1-12 before this week, and completed plots 13-40 this very week. That's a personal record.
Finally, my friend Dorothy - for whom I knitted the Color Waves scarf - opened her gift (I had given it to her and told her she could open it whenever.) She had been saving it, but a mutual friend had told me she was having some health problems (mainly related to a fall she took over a year ago) and had been kind of "down." Well, she called me and left a message yesterday afternoon, exclaiming over the scarf.
She loved it. She said "you won't believe how much I'm going to wear it this winter." She commented on how soft it was, and how lightweight, and how warm.
Which teaches me something - don't try to impose my fiber preferences on other people. I really did not like the yarn that well. I thought it was kind of rough to the touch, and I know it's not as warm as wool would be (but then again, we live in southern Oklahoma, where temperatures below 30 are exceedingly rare).
I'm happy she liked it, and even happier that it made her happy. It was great to hear the delight in her voice on the phone message. (I saw her yesterday evening so I could tell her "you're welcome" in person).
And now, I am done. Lunchtime. I have to get money at the bank for my travels to visit family. I'm going to go home after that and clean house. I have an obligation tonight (sigh) but tomorrow before graduation (and after it is over) I am going to sit in my nice clean house, with my bags packed to go, and knit.
This might be the last post before mid-January. If you celebrated Diwali, or Eid, or Chanukah, I hope you had a happy one. If you celebrate Solstice, or Yule, or Christmas, or New Year's, or Epiphany, or Old Christmas, I hope you have a happy one. Peace, love, and understanding to you.
