Happy socks:

carbon dioxide.JPG

These are the socks I'm knitting out of Interlacements' "Toasty Toes" in the color called "Carbon Dioxide." I've been burned by some hand-painted yarns in the past, yarns that looked nice in the skein but knitted up muddy. I'm really happy with this one - it seemed almost aggressively bright in the skein, but knit up, the colors are still distinct yet play more happily together.

And it's nice to be knitting "big yarn" (comparatively) socks for a change. I got the heel flap, heel turn, and gussets all done this evening.

And happy news: in the ongoing game of "Hunt the Medical Problem," my dad had a chest scan - which came out totally clear. This is very good news, as a succession of doctors have made worried noises over the years about the fact that my father spent several summers doing research in uranium mines. He's still facing tests, but at least it looks like the lungs are OK.
