Including some hopefully potentially useful websites so I don't totally lose what few readers I have.
one of my friends back in Illinois has had her identity stolen. What do you do in a case like that? Well, I knew to call the cops and the credit agencies, but there's a lot more:
preventing and surviving identity theft
Ironically, this "copyrighted document" is the one I've found on all the websites the search turned up.
Sock dogs - on a happier note.
I wish I had a digital camera and image hosting (I don't even have a very good PRINT camera at this point). I made two sock dogs over the weekend - one Friday night and the other Sunday afternoon. The first one is my favorite. I used some black and tan socks (the black part was tweedy and the tan was the sock "trim"). I used the standard Kay*starr instructions.
I was originally going to name him Donovan but he looked like that name was too serious for him, so I renamed him Socket. He has button eyes and a felt nose.
Sunday, I made a girlfriend for him - I used red and pink striped Old Navy socks (which aren't as nice to work with as the heavier weight socks I used for Socket). I did the snout a little differently, more pointed, because I made her legs short like a dachshund's. (Socket looks more like some kind of retriever or hound). I put felt eyes and embroidered long eyelashes on her. I drew on arched "plucked" looking eyebrows with a Pigma pen (and succeeded at getting them asymmetrical, d'oh). Her name is Lili Marlene, like the song.
other than that, it's been a lot of plugging away at work. Fortunately tonight I have no meetings, I am going to clean house tonight. I get the bed I bought for the guest bedroom delivered on Friday so I have to have that room ready.
