TChem - your comment makes me wish I had more time for/was more clever at designing, because I can TOTALLY imagine a "Neutral Mutations" scarf, where it starts off as one lace pattern and slowly becomes another, equally workable lace pattern. Or a "Biological Clock" scarf of some sort, with the idea of "neutral mutations" in it.

Sort of like that "deconstructed Fair Isle" that was in Interweave Knits a couple years ago, where the peerie patterns sort of started floating off on their own...
