Worth a look if you like "non mainstream" (i.e., not listed on every got-durn "bestseller" list) books: ForeWord Magazine.. It's an online magazine about independently published books, and I see at least one or two profiled on there that I'd like to check out.

(Yes, I will admit to generally having something against bestsellers. The recent "modern" novels I've read - including some rather popular ones - have been such morasses of human dysfunction that they left me somewhat depressed. Call me a Pollyanna but I'd rather read books about people I'd aspire to be like, not want to run away from if they existed in real life.)

Oh you are so singing my song. I have the toughest time reading "best sellers". I'm so sick of mean women and weak men. It's even harder forme because I spend Your Tax Dollars on this junk.

Give Marissa de los Santos a read. Her language is so beautiful and she doesn't hate the world. She believes in people.

Agreed! I read to relax and learn, life has enough problems already...I don't need to wallow in fictional ones in my downtime...
