For those who are fans of math and of decorated socks, it strikes me that some of the little "atavars" or "critters" (or whatever you wish to call them) from Conway's Game Of Life would make interesting sock decorations - maybe something that gives the appearance of "stop motion animation" of the movement of a "glider" around the cuff of a sock?

I don't know. I don't know very much about the Game of Life but it is interesting to me.

Then again, as one of the glider-states is used as an emblem by hackers, maybe you'd not want it on socks.

There's also the Garden of Eden pattern that derives from the Game of Life. (How about a pair of socks with a band of this under the ribbing and on the heel flap, and the socks being titled, "Inagaddadavida"?)
