Crochet your own hyperbolic plane (from the "big" knitlist; you'll need to scroll down to about the middle of the page). And there's a gallery of models someone made here

Also, here are some pictures of the Neverending Socks. I don't think I've posted any here before. The sock is the Canal du Midi sock from "Knitting on the Road." I've been working on them since fall 2003; I just finished the first sock over my Christmas break. I've been working off and on on the second sock, and I'm almost up to the leg decreases. Twisted stitch patterns on size 1's take forever, and it also took me a considerable amount of time before I really grokked the pattern and could do it without second-guessing myself.

I've cranked the brightness and tweaked the contrast on both of these; I had to take the pictures without flash (to avoid washing out the stitches) and they were initially rather dark. Colors may not be true to life.

And here is some detail of the twisted stitches.

Never again will I use a busy variegated with what amounts to a subtle bas-relief stitch pattern. I almost ripped these out four or five times because the pattern didn't show up as much as I wanted (it actually looks a lot better on than when the sock is sitting empty on a table), but the amount of work I'd already put into them stayed my hand each time.
