You can be proud of me.

I've been thinking of the Koigu crocheted slippers in the "Hip to Knit" book that Aven* sent me, thinking they would be fun to make.

So I started hunting around my usual yarn-purveyors. It seems Koigu is harder to find now (is it the higher demand and the maybe-irregular shipping schedule - I mean, I know producing the handpainted yarn is labor intensive and often labor intensive things don't get done when you think they will). Anyway - I finally found it at Patternworks (eeep, it's $11 US a skein now?). But anyway. I picked out a color, clicked to put it into my cart. Scanned around the site more, saw that they had a fingering-weight grab bag, clicked that into my cart, also some sockyarn.

Then I decided against it. I told myself I have Koigu sitting on my yarn shelf, that I bought well over a year ago for socks and have not used. That I could use that - that it wouldn't explode or anything if I used it for a purpose Other Than That For Which It Was Originally Bought.** So I clicked away, abandoning the stuff in my shopping cart.

*She's starting a Tintin sweater. Oh, how I love that. I have a bunch of the Tintin books (in English though, yes, I'm a piker there). And I remember waaaaaaay back when I was a teenybopper, there was a Sting video that featured him wearing a Tintin sweater for part of it (Was it "If you love somebody"? I remember Sting but not the music...)

** I used Capitalized Phrases a lot, don't I? Chalk it up to Too Many Ernest Shepard-Illustrated British Children's Books When I Was a Child. Or chalk it up to Reading Other People Who Do It a Lot. (Bess, are your ears burning?)
