Another meme, lifted from I'm Knitting as Fast as I Can:
1. Do you knit continental or English?
English. I've tried off and on to teach myself continental but my left hand won't do what I want it to do. I also crochet "weird," that is, I hold both the hook and the yarn in my right hand. My left hand doesn't obey very well; I don't know if there's some nerve damage there or if it's just a very sub-dominant hand. I did break my left elbow about a dozen years ago but never noticed any loss of mobility.
2. How long ago did you learn to knit?
It would be about 25 years now. Thanksgiving, at my paternal grandmother's. Too cold and rainy to go down to the lakeshore, so my mother taught me to knit.
3. First FO?
A knitted scarf for my Kermit the Frog doll, made that same Thanksgiving. I think I still have it somewhere.
4. Favorite yarn?
Morehouse Farms Merino. Lorna's Laces sockweight. 1824 Wool. Good old (pre-merger with Schoeller) Stahl Socka.
5. Favorite pattern?
The Bookworm Vest in "Folk Vests." Runner-up is Judy Sumner's Feather and Fan socks in the Socks^3 book. I don't often make patterns more than once, so I don't really get a lot of "favorites." Okay, I guess SitCom Chic also counts, I've made that twice and will do it again.
6. Favorite pattern source?
Interweave Knits. Books by Nancy Bush and Cheryl Oberle. I also enjoy MagKnits and Knitty, even though not everything on there is to my taste. I've also been very happy with patterns/kits from Blackberry Ridge and Morehouse Farms.
7. Favorite needles?
Depends on the situation but I'm pretty fond of my Swallow Caseins.
8. Nicest thing you’ve ever knit?
That would be a tie between the Bookworm vest and the Kilimanjaro Kat shawl.
9. Most hated project?
I can't really think of one right now... I've got a pair of the Zig Zag socks from the first Vogue socks book that are on perma-stall, but that's not so much because I hated them but because I ran out of chart and was stymied as to how to make them longer in pattern.
10. Who are you going to pass this on to?
No one in mind. But if you've not done it and want to "steal" it < cough Diann cough > feel free.
