First, a finished object:
These are the Art Nouveau Rose socks, from the pattern by Dawn Brocco, made from the kit she originally offered (Naturally Perendale, I think). I used the recommended needle sizes: US 3's for the leg and heel flap and 2's for the heel turn and foot. The wool is about a DK weight.
They were photographed on my coffee table, which I bought at an antique store in Denison. It is a very nice old wood piece, and I suspect it began life as an organ bench because the top is hinged and opens like a piano bench. It's also sturdy enough to sit on and is proportioned like a piano or organ bench.
Next, a work-in-progress:
This is the DNA scarf, from the fall Interweave Knits, pattern by June Oshiro. I'm using Cashmerino (KFI brand) in a color they call "denim" but which looks more blue-green to me. I'm using size 6 needles (they are an old pair of flexible plastic needles I inherited from the mother of a friend) for this.
They were photographed on my hardwood floors, which I lived very frugally for six months in order to be able to afford to have refinished. Aren't they lovely? The rice and beans diet was so worth it.
And finally, for those who live in parts of the country where it's still snowing:
If you think this is mean feel welcome to e-mail me pictures of how nice and cool and green it is where you live in August, when I'm going nuts in the 100* heat.
