Finished the first Whidby sock and am on the ribbing of the second.

For some reason right now, I'm in a bit of a sock-slump - I'm not finding them as engaging as I once did. I don't know why, perhaps it's time for me to put on my design-hat again and design a pattern again.

I've also gotten past the pocket re-attachment on the Circus pullover. The front is probably 12" long or so (that would be about half-way). This is my current knit-n-read project.

I also gave into startitis and embarked (and I am sure that is the right word in this case) on the Kilimanjaro Kat shawl that I had in-stash. I'm using a superfine kid mohair for this (not the Richesse et Soie recommended on the pattern; a cheaper Mondial version of a similar yarn). I bought this back in fall 2001 around the time I was moving to my house and figured I was too stressed to start on it. I tucked it away and found it last week while re-organizing my stash closet (it wasn't that I had forgotten I had it, but you know how a project will catch your imagination when you actually see the materials for it again). I've completed only the first "cat's paw" of the body of the shawl (I think I'm on Row 28). This is going to have to be the "stays at home and is worked on only when I'm alert enough to want to count every stitch" pattern. I'm thinking maybe inserting markers between every 14-st repeat might be a good idea, too.

Still, I sort of like a pattern where you count rows; somehow it feels like you're making more progress than on a pattern where they tell you "knit stockinette until piece is 15" long" or whatever. I don't like having to whip out the tape every few rows and measure.
