The shawl is done.
I rented "To Kill a Mockingbird" (good movie; incredibly faithful to the book; Gregory Peck's Atticus Finch is exactly how I pictured Atticus Finch in my mind) last night and did the last few rows. I cast off this morning and the shawl is now drying from being blocked.
I can send it out next week and it will definitely (well, barring any bizarre blips or awful mishaps in the postal service) reach my mom in time for her birthday.
And, my Sand came. But there's a glitch. The pattern I want to use is older - from 1999 - and apparently at that time Sand was being sold in 100 g skeins rather than 50 g skeins.
The pattern in #6 in the Spring/Summer 1999 "Family Circle Easy Knitting"
So it looks like I'm going to have to double my order (order more and hope they have the same dyelot). Still, it seems strange - I currently have 1232 yards of Sand. The pattern says it should take 2310.
That seems like way way too much, even for a loosefitting sweater made of bulky yarn. Help, has anyone made this sweater? Is the 15, 100-g skeins thing a typo? My e-mail link is at left. Remove the capital letters to reach me. I'm going to try ordering the yarn tomorrow (Monday) morning, but I can always send it back if there's too much...
