got it done

I got through the last five soil samples today. It was HARD. I was tired, and I kept resisting wanting to do it. Also, some of the soil from the third site was weirdly hydrophobic; I don't know if it was resins from the cedars (or the pines; there were a few pines in the area) or what but it would not soak up the water which made it harder to sort doing the float test.

When I get back, I have these to "score" - that is, go through and count up all the different things by their taxonomic order. That's a little less awful, and I can do it at my office desk instead of in the lab, so I can have streaming music playing on my computer. (And I am not sitting with my back to a door, which is never 100% psychologically comfortable)

And then, later in June, I guess I do it all again.

I hope the trends I think I'm seeing are real so this is publishable.

Anyway, I came home and quickly (mostly) packed before the board meeting. I still have to put in the various makeup and tooth stuff and hairbrush and deodorant and such, but tomorrow morning I need to mow first, then shower, then I can put that in. (The meds can go in after I eat breakfast).

I'm just tired. I hope this break is good. I need a refresh.

I have a couple embargoed posts (I still cannot post photos to Blogger from my phone, which annoys me. If I write any posts on the road they'll have to be without photos). If I have time and inspiration tomorrow I might write another one or two.
