some new socks

 I like to keep a pair of simple socks going for times when I don't feel like working on anything more complicated. I have a lot of variegated and self-patterning yarns in my stash for this purpose.

I'm also partial to "sparkle" yarns, which have a little thread of tinsel running through them.

So for the most recent ones I grabbed an Opal yarn I had bought a while back, I forget what line it's from and I'm not sure I kept the ball-band. But it does have sparkles, and also pastel stripes. 

 I'm not sure I love them. The colors border on what some knitters used to deride as "clown barf," and the stripes aren't even in size. Oh, I'll keep working on them to see how the rest of the sock works up - maybe that bubblegum pink will be less prominent. If I don't like them when they're done maybe I'll find someone to give them to. They're not quite my mom's colors, but maybe someone who wears the "women's medium " size (like a US women's shoe 7 1/2 to 8) would like them.

Or maybe I'll come to like them better. 

Other than that today, I had the lunch, and before and after that I did some house-cleaning. (I need to do more, but I also need to go in tomorrow and work).
