Most years, I would post some of the British Christmas ads - from John Lewis, or Marks and Spencer's, ones like that.
Here are a few for this year. First up, a different one, a "it will make you cry, especially if you have known people with Alzheimer's" ad from Chevy that Roger posted a couple weeks back:
I'm pretty sure we had that very John Denver 8-track when I was a kid.
And then one from Aldi UK, which I'm frankly not sure how I feel about. It's a brief retelling of the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory story, but with vegetables (!) and a message about helping those in need. It doesn't quite hit for me; it seems too calculating or something
The "other" discount chain I've heard of from the UK - Lidl - has a traditional "cute woodland animal helps out and gets its own Christmas as thanks. This feels like a very traditional sort of Christmas ad:
This one - for Heathrow, and I seem to remember they used bears in past ads - DOES hit that spot where you go "awww!" at the end
And John Lewis. I admit the "pop country" genre a couple of these ads use as background music isn't my favorite, but again, this one has a nice theme
The "alternative" ad (which I guess some panned as being "depressing," but which I think is a better story and reminds us that "love came down at Christmas") features a Santa Claus who helps out, but is in return helped himself:
And, finally, the grocery chain Sainsbury's. There's a celebrity cameo in it, but he doesn't do what you might expect. This is a more comic one.

I saw a shortened version of that Chevy ad (one minute) and it still got to me, but only because I'd seen the long form first.
