Did one set of bags today; will do the other tomorrow. Submitted grades from two classes - I had to wait until this afternoon to get the "extra time accommodation" exams for the other two and grade them. I have a meeting with a student tomorrow, and I need to at least bare-bones set up my Canvas pages, but then I'm done.
It was about four when I got the exams, got home, did the workout I didn't get up to do this morning, graded the exams, and then decided....I need a barbecue meal. (And not to cook. And I don't have a *lot* of food left in the house given I leave here midday Sunday)
Most of the stuff this restaurant serves is house-made. I don't normally get onion rings places unless I KNOW - all too often they're frozen ones, thrown in hot oil, with inedibly hard coating, but these have a thin enough and soft enough coating they don't bother my teeth. And the sweet potato fries are cut from potatoes and fried instead of out of a frozen bag.
They're my favorite place to get carry out - they do have a seating area but it's SO EASY to order online and drive up to their window and get your stuff, and they're only a couple blocks from me so it's still hot when I get it home.
The food's not cheap - this whole meal was about $20 (though ribs are one of the more expensive things) BUT this is two generous dinners for me, so I figure if I amortize it out, it's not bad - I'll eat the other half either tomorrow or Saturday evening.
I have a little time now. I want to work on the Nutcracker socks, it would be really nice to finish those before I leave, though I'm not sure if I can.
I want to take the Pinkmas yarn and the pattern, and maybe another couple balls of just self-patterning yarn for simple socks. And I started the Orchard and Vine shawl *ages* ago and never got very far,, so I want to take that and restart it. And I have a scarf on the needles I just barely started. I might just take smallish projects for now. (And I want to look at a couple amigurumi books, or maybe print off the pattern for the Tauntaun (Called the "Hoth Camel" by the designer, perhaps to dodge the Mouse's C&D lawyers). It's basic enough yarns that I could pick up what I needed up there. (I think I also have a dragons-and-unicorns book I might want to look at as alternatives).
I thought about bringing the Tunisian crochet hooks and pattern, but it calls for Patons' "Grace" yarn, which I'm not sure how available that is, and for a first try, I want to use the yarn called for until I understand how gauge works in that. So maybe that's a January thing, and I order the yarn I need.
