And still further

 I'm about halfway through the second chart of the cowl (so: maybe about half done with the cowl itself). 

I also gave an exam today and brought the simple mitts along (the cowl requires too much concentration for such things). I hadn't decided whether to keep these or not and when I pulled it out of the bag (after not having looked at it for almost a week) my brain went "Twilight Sparkle colors!" so now I think I'll keep them.

I finished the first mitt and just barely started the second:

I haven't woven the ends (there are only two: start and finish; this is a clever design where the thumb gusset is entirely integral to the mitt; you don't have to hold stitches and pick up stitches later). I didn't have a needle with me to do it with. 

Other than that, I'm tired. It's been unseasonably cold and cold in the building and you get cold and then STAY cold. And I also had a lower-mobility day - I was stiff and it was harder to maneuver into the van (to be fair: it was parked very very close to another one on the driver's side; in the end I opened the passenger door and crawled in over the seat) to take my students out to the field. (And when I got back, ALREADY late for a meeting, someone had parked their own pickup truck in the LAST slot reserved for vans, so I had to park where another office is supposed to park their van. I told the motor pool person, they can deal with it. I hope the person who took the marked "MOTOR POOL VANS ONLY" slot got a ticket if they were just parking there to avoid having to walk from another lot)
