one of my better "bangers" on the site formally known as twitter was a joke I came up with (maybe not original to me but I thought of it without input) about the mob boss who told one of his underlings to make sure that so-and-so "slept with the fishies" and his underling, not understanding, went to Ikea and bought a bunch of their big plush shark toys ("Blåhaj") to give to the guy.
I also realized that I missed "Treat Yo'Self Day," which was the 13th (a made-up holiday stemming from Parks and Recreation) but these probably arrived about that time (I had to order some other things from Target and saw them, and they helped fill out the "$35 with shipping" part)
Shark sheets!
If I remember correctly the name of the brand is "Pillowfort." It's aimed at kids but they make the sheets in double-bed size, so I can get them to fit my bed. (I also have a set of the ones from last year with alicorns on them).
They're not the greatest sheets ever - they are inexpensive and I suspect they won't last as long as the 100% cotton Vermont Country Store sheets I have (one set of them is still serviceable after more than 10 years). They're also "microfiber" which is a fancy name for polyester - which means they're warmer than cotton sheets (not ideal here, and I also tend to sleep hot) and I also wonder what kind of microplastics they may be releasing to the waterways when I wash them. (Trying to be an ethical consumer is very hard in this world).
But also, just being kind of still tired (I didn't sleep well last night; I think I did too much brainwork yesterday) and sad at the state of the world, sometimes it's nice to have something somewhat amusing/cute like the shark sheets.
(I already have planned to take Saturday and go to Denison, I need to go to Ulta for a couple things and it would be nice to get out to a larger/nicer grocery store, though I'm apprehensive that Kroger will still have problems; the last two times I was there the AC was broken or it smelled bad and the shelves were understocked so maybe I have to find a new "good" grocery store some how)
