I got all the cutting done last week, and did assemble one block to make sure I'd done the cutting right. This one has half-square triangles, the bit where you layer two squares on top of each other, right sides together, and then stitch 1/4" from the diagonal center line, then cut them apart.
It's always an odd size you have to cut them - I think these are 5 7/8"? The extra bit is so you can do those seams.
Anyway, it worked, and yesterday, I made some more.
The pattern is called Jacob's Ladder, it makes more sense when you group the blocks together. This is eight of the 30 I will eventually need for it. (That's sun from my living room window bleaching out the right most blocks in the photo; even with the blinds totally closed - because it's very hot here - some still gets in)
The fabrics are a photorealistic print of succulent plans, and the plain fabric is a very pale bluish-greyish green:
I think I have enough of a similarly-colored photo with frogs on it to use for the backing. This should be a fairly fast one, because I don't have to lay it out - all the fabrics are the same so I can just sew blocks together once they're all done.
