Didn't get the new tires; I hadn't paid for them yet and the tire place sold them (they said, apologetically, they had a run on that size this week). Understandable. I'd be put out if I had paid but the woman I talked to would have had no way of knowing "oh she'll come back" or "that was a polite turndown of our estimate." The appropriate tires have been ordered and should be here Monday or Tuesday, I am going to go down the afternoon and get them put on, I will bring grading this time since I will have to sit there.
I got the house cleaned too. The bathroom is cleaner than it's been in months, and the living room is clean too (still a bit cluttered, but that's the issue with a small house - not enough places to put stuff.) I'm glad I did it even though I'll have to work harder next week to get all the stuff done I need to get done. It needed it, and I needed an afternoon away from campus. I also put a couple photos I had in frames I'd bought - the one of my mom, my grandma, and me, and another one from grad school with me and three of my labmates at the time. I have them arranged on the top of the piano now.
I did sort some stuff too and I have a pretty full trashcan for once.
So tomorrow I go to Heard Nature Center, which I haven't been to in like 20 years - I barely remember the place (I remember walking trails, but that's about it. I think they may also had some wildlife displays?). Also just a day out and hanging out with other people will be good. (And going somewhere where I don't have to drive).
One more week of classes, and then it's exam week.
I didn't get much knitting done this week; I'm trying to be OK with that. I do need to do a bit more piano practice (I think I am entering a cycle of getting better at it again) and also do the PT exercises before bed.
I made English muffin pizzas for dinner. As I was cleaning, I thought "I could get a pizza from out" but (a) they are often greasier than what's ideal for me and (b) I could go down to Roma's, sure, but if I got one from Marco's - well, they're where the terrible construction (that's been going on for 2 years, and it's a minor scandal as the road contractor has missed EVERY deadline and yet remains employed. I wonder who's brother-in-law he is....) And I don't care for Domino's. And yes, Marco's delivers BUT they have minimum orders (which is reasonable - before the construction got so bad I'd occasionally order a small pizza from them and pick it up myself because it was below the minimum) and that would be more than I wanted. Then I remembered I bought English muffins this week, and had a jar of pizza sauce and some cheese in the fridge - so I did that.
And you might say: but those aren't the same as "real" pizza. But they meant I didn't have to go out, and didn't have to pay extra money for a dinner, and they were less greasy than a commercial pizza would be. And you know? Sometimes it is nice to realize "oh hey I have something I want to fix right here" and then sit down and fix it.
