I finished the first horse-and-foal pillowcase tonight:
This may have been the better part of 10 years in the making (I think I bought them a decade or so ago, at a quilt show) but that's mainly because I mostly didn't-work on them, and having a desk to sit at (more conducive to sewing-type tasks) and the capacity to watch things on my laptop while I work contributed to my finally finishing.
Of course, I have the second one to do after this....but I plan to start that right away, since I already have the thread set aside and even a few bits "stripped" down to the three strands I use for this.
Here's a close-up of the horse and foal. Momhorse on this one is a couple different colors because I worked on it over such a span of time and I forgot which shade I used, and the light wasn't the best for "eyeballing" it I guess. It's not THAT noticeable:
There's a little circular crease from it being in the hoop; that will come out with washing.

Oh I think that is darling. And I don't use darling very often as a compliment.
Hello from someone who used to follow your blog very regularly. I haven't blogged about knitting myself for some while but a photo of yours was on Flickr and I stopped by to say hello. Now, I see that you are embroidering such a cute pillowcase set! I use my grandmother's cases as dresser scarves (which are few and far between nowadays) and I'm contemplating picking up some to work on so that I have something fresh to look at. I'll be looking forward to reading your review of the process. Best wishes from Minnesota!
Those are very nice.
What do you do with the things you create?
I find I make more than I can give away for Christmas when I go though a making/crafting phase (which I rotate through from etching to woodburning to candlemaking and then back again), so I end up with a garage full of completed projects.
I don't think I have enough to populate a booth at a church bazaar yet, and I'm sometimes disappointed with the prices they fetch at church silent auctions and craft sales.
