My mom (and brother) called me on Facetime this evening.
No, I didn't tear up, and I don't need to now. It was nice to be able to see them, and in a way, it seems easier to talk when I can see the person's face. (I don't THINK it's that I have hearing loss - my ears are still pretty sensitive - but being able to see expression helps)
I also told her I'd e-mail her a link to the webpage of her church, so she can just click on that Sunday morning to watch the service. That's nice. I like that. I like the idea of the two of us, 700 miles apart, both sitting and watching the same church service.
I also offered to e-mail her a link to a new favorite little "distraction" site for me - Jigsaw Explorer ("virtual" jigsaw puzzles online, so you have the fun of working a puzzle without needing a flat surface to lay one out on. I particularly like the every-Friday "mystery" puzzles, where they only show you a small bit of it and you have to figure out the rest as you put it together).
I can also send her photos now, as can my brother. And I guess she and my niece, there are some games they can play together over the internet, and that's also nice.
