late afternoon quilt

Late last evening I got the last bit of the binding sewn down on the Chalet quilt. It was, of course, too late to photograph it then, and I had stuff I had to get done towards teaching today, but here are some photos now:

It's a very simple "brick run" type design, but I like simple designs, especially when you want to see the *fabrics* in a quilt.

I had it quilted in a butterfly design, which seemed to work with the sort of rustic/Alpine theme.

More of the fabrics in this. This was a line from maybe 10 years back, maybe a little less, plus several other fabrics added in. It's exactly the kind of fabric I like: cute colors (sort of pastel, but not too sugary), complex designs, lots of detail:

And the backing. I really, really love this fabric and now I'm happy I had enough for the back (and I have a tiny bit left over for scrap quilting)

It's an Alpine village, in sweet, almost cartoon colors, and it's SUPER detailed, which makes it fun, it almost has a "dollhouse" feel to it for me:

I'm glad to have this one done. I'm hoping I can get a little speedier with some of the online teaching stuff so I can buy a little time to sew the binding on the big (it's like 80" square) pastel quilt and eventually do binding for the nearest quilt.

I also have a quilt in the frame I keep looking at, and maybe will start working on again in the evenings....maybe my handwork mojo is starting to return.

(I also ordered a small desk from Wayfair to work at in my front window, especially in case I am teaching-from-home come this fall. And I contacted the counselor just to see if maybe a session or two might help me cope better with all the...isolation, and unsureness, and just everything with this. She did kind of say "I don't know how much it helps but lots of people are struggling now" but I think for me mainly having someone else to talk to and go "No, this is really messed up, and you're not totally overreacting to it" but also to remind me not to get into a "what if" spiral like I tend to late in the evenings, it will help. I struggle a bit with not enough people to talk to during the day)

I love how colorful it is and the backing is awesome. It reminds me of old children's book illustrations.
