last sad note

I got news sent on to me from Roger O. Green, telling me that Charles Hill, formerly of Dustbury, has passed from the injuries sustained in his car accident.

Selfishly (because he was my FRIEND) I was hoping for some kind of miraculous recovery, or the news to be wrong, but I also know - paralyzed from the neck down is a very, very tough thing to make a life with (and usually impossible to have much recovery from).

It is sad, but....not that unexpected. I am raging at the universe that he didn't get to enjoy Day 1 of his retirement, though. And all condolences to his family, especially his children - I know all to well what it feels to be a suddenly-fatherless adult child.

I am hoping and praying this will be the end of bad news in my circle for 2019, but I also have a great fear that it won't be.

This has, as I said before, absolutely been the worst year of my life and I will be extremely happy to see the end of this year.

Again, I'm very sorry for our loss.
You had another poem I rather liked. I'll have to go back and look for it.

I'm remembering some of Charles' darker posts where he wrote of fearing that he would die at home and not be found right away. It's not much, but it's something that at least someone who loved him was able to be there before he passed.
