I have to run to the bank and gas up the car before finishing my piano practice for today (I will have to leave no later than 7 am to get to Carthage in time to meet Laura....)
But the mail just came. Two interesting things:
1. A save-the-date card from my "eldest" (who is a solid dozen years younger than I am) cousin from one branch of the family. He had been the cousin who had wanted to go into the priesthood (that is the Catholic side of my family) but he "washed out" during the discernment process. I don't know if it was a mutual decision or if the higher-ups told him they didn't think he was qualified....not that that matters now.
I knew he had taken back up with a former girlfriend but wasn't aware that it was so serious. I won't be able to attend given when and where the wedding is, but I hope they have a nice wedding and a lovely marriage.
2. And then this came:
Round boi.
I ordered this AGES ago - I said "May" but I think it was actually June, shortly after I got back here. The seller - who is in Japan - gave the "delivery window" as stretching between July 9 and July 24.
I hoped for the earlier part of the window, no luck. July 24 rolled around, no Rowlet. I told myself: give it two more days, then complain to Amazon.
I was literally going to file a complaint this evening. (Though probably I should have waited another week, but still: no tracking information, and a very wide window).
But, nope - I was taking a bag of trash out and saw the delivery guy pull up and stick a small round (wrapped in brown paper, not in a box) thing in my mailbox and I thought "could it be?"
And yup, it was.
Wait, I need to free him from his box...
f2222222222
(Heh. I dropped him on the keyboard so maybe that is Rowlet saying hi to you?)
Anyway, that's better:
He is very soft and very round.
I kind of wish I read Japanese; this is straight from Japan and the box is (of course) entirely in Japanese except for the "Takara Tomy" and a little bit of trademark information.
(And I know, his - her? - its - I think they refer to Pokemon often as "it" in the show, because there is no presumption of gender - name in Japanese is something different but I cannot remember it at the moment)

and generally birds don't reveal their gender until they are older. I know I have friends with parrots who don't find out if they are boys or girls until they are teenagers and they start dropping eggs (or not).
