Oh, Folio Society

So, first, you send me a letter (which startled me when I pulled it out of the mailbox: I feared I was going to be told, "We never received payment for the last book you ordered") telling me that I need not find four books to order for this year, that you were going to "carry" my membership for a year.

(And I briefly felt all special, with that "they know I'm a good customer!" glow. But apparently they are doing that for EVERYONE).

But then, you send me an e-mail with a link to your new books.

And yes, there are four (the number required to renew membership in the past) that I want. A couple that I WANT want. (The Tiger in the Smoke? Of course. The Selfish Giant and other Stories? Of course.)

So I guess you'll be giving me the extension into 2014 you offered, because I'm going to be getting those four books. (Sigh.)

Though, they don't seem to be offering as many 'free gifts' as in the past. (Actually, I think I might prefer the membership-without-having-to-buy-four-books-every-year-but-no-free-gifts option. And I never actually use the "diaries" they send me every year - they're lovely, but I'm not quite organized enough to use one. Instead, I write stuff on the squares of my big wall calender if I need to remember a meeting or appointment.)
