God bless Dr. Benninghoff (my mom's graduate advisor) for saving all his back numbers of Ecology. And God bless Mrs. Benninghoff, for, after his death, boxing them all up neatly and calling my mom up and asking if I'd have any use for them, as she knew I had an active research program.
And I guess I also have to be grateful for having the foresight to say "Yes, I'll find a place for them" because once again I needed an article from an older volume of the journal, and there is was, no need to search through the collection at the library here (and hope they had it: they've dropped and taken the subscription back up over the years at different times, which is really kind of suboptimal). And no having to try to finagle having the university pay the JSTOR paywall for it. (Or, more likely: me paying out of my own pocket, because I don't like to spend our scarce resources on such things).
