I knit some on the Everdeen Beanie last night. This is a dk weight hat that has a lace pattern that is either the same as, or very reminiscent of, the Pomatomus socks that are well-known to sock knitters - one of Cookie A's first published patterns that I know (the link is to the pattern at Knitty.)
I've never knit this lace stitch before, and often these kinds of things require a bit of a leap of faith. I am working from a chart, and I can read charts and can usually even visualize the pattern from the chart, but still....I can't quite see, three or four rows in, how it's going to resolve into the pattern it's supposed to be. But I am assuming it will.
I think this weekend is going to be spent relaxing. I need to. I also want to knit on stuff and quilt on the quilt in the frame.
I'm also learning one of the delights of the Internet I had not previously known: when you have relatives with a small child and a fondness for photos - getting barraged (in a good way) with photos of the child. My brother sent me another bunch. Apparently their cat tolerates the baby (I may be reading too much into his "expression" in the photo of the two of them taken with the baby lying next to him, but it looks like a sort of grudging tolerance to me. I know my brother said the cat runs and hides when the baby cries.). My brother also sent one of "Sarah-Jane and me playing video games" and I thought, before opening it, "She's way too young for that!"
Well, she's sleeping on his chest while he plays. So she's not actually PLAYING. But if that's one way to get her to sleep, okay. (Apparently she has some of the same "colic" issues I did as a baby.)
