Well, I realized that I had a $50 "HSDIRBTMYFYC" credit with Elann (go here if you need an explanation).
I had been oogling (or is it ogling?) the Highland Wool since it came available again. I had been on the fence - is the Peridot a really pretty color, or will it make me look like I'm recovering from the flu? Do I want yet another shade of green, or do I want something different?
Well, this morning, I gave in, partly because I had a total meltdown last night and felt I needed a bit of comfort.
I wound up ordering the color called Irish Moss - still a green, but not as likely to be apparency-of-anemia producing on me than a paler yellower green would. And because I'm indecisive, some of the Antique Rose as well. Which I think will become a cabled vest, and I probably overbought on it, but what the heck.
I really like the Highland wool; it's a good basic yarn, warm and soft and it felts well. In fact, I'm wearing my Dolman Updated sweater today, which I love now - it's amazing what good re-blocking it did. (Oh, the sleeves are a bit too long, still, but that's ok, I'm willing to forgive myself for not measuring and altering the pattern for my short little wings.)
the meltdown, you ask? Someone criticized the youth program (i.e., me) for not "controlling" the kids well enough and letting them be "too noisy." Um, yeah. I've been asking for quiet like every three minutes since the program has been running. They're teenaged BOYS. Also, apparently, one of the exterior doors was left unlocked at some time and it was blamed on my group. I did not appreciate being hit with the criticism right in front of the rest of the board without having had a "heads up" first. I was taught that if you have a criticism, you go to the person in private and deliver it. I actually wound up crying in front of the pastor, who stopped me on the way out the door to explain that "it's ok, really, you're doing a good job."
