I hope we're done with 90 degree or higher weather until next summer.
My fieldwork planned for this afternoon got rained out (it is not currently raining but it rained heavily this morning and it's kind of miserable to fight your way through wet vegetation on a humid day, and I can reschedule for a different time).
It's cooler out, I got all my work for next week done, so I came home and fixed some soup
Well, FSVO "fixed" - I opened the can and heated it up and put it in my big Simply Sock Yarn mug that was the "final part" of the last National Parks yarn club.
In a bit, I'm going to try to clean this place up a bit - it's been getting on my nerves and I wonder if some of my recent distress is "messy house distress," which is a thing for me. To fight my increasingly bad executive function for things like this, I am going to set timers and try to do four, 1/2 hour timers - and just see how far I get.
I told myself the reward for doing this will be to get out my Halloween lights (which I found) and put them up. I am really leaning into the spooky season this year, more than normally, I think because this past year and seven months has been such a nothing time that I need some kind of fun or celebration. I probably won't do trick or treating (I never get many people anyway, even in the before times) and there will be no parties but I can at least decorate the house and enjoy that.
Tomorrow is a volunteer work day UNLESS it gets rained out (which looks possible, and I admit with as busy I've been, I would not be heartbroken if it were rained out). If it is? Maybe I do more housecleaning (I doubt two hours this evening will do everything) and maybe I run to Lowe's for more tubs for fabric - I'm close to having the room back there a lot better.
Next week maybe I take a little time and drop a quilt top off - I found the fabric I want to use for the back of the Chandelier quilt; I just need to sew it up. Pretty sure the local quilt place is still accepting tops...
Edited to add, almost 10 pm: volunteer effort got cancelled due to rain, so my new plans for tomorrow are to do a bunch more house cleaning, put up the Halloween lights, maybe get more storage tubs. Maybe even fix something fancier and nicer for dinner - I got a pound of ground beef that I COULD have frozen if I had to but now I can make something like Bolognese sauce out of it (which is what I had planned for it)
