Did not disappoint.

When I heard the April Doki Doki box was a "Japan Arcade" theme, I was excited - the little gashopon toys and small stuffed critters are my favorite of the "Japanese Cute" items.

It came today. It was a fun, fun box.

This was my favorite item:

bunny

An Amuse brand stuffed bunny. (A Google search tells me he is Fuwakoro Chan and he is supposed to be an angora bunny).

Oh, heck, another photo with him to show the scale:

I'm half tempted to name him Angel, except he seems to smily and too happy to be Angel. Maybe call him Usagi, which (IIRC) is Japanese for rabbit?

Two other items that particularly made me smile:

hamster pouch

Maud Pie says: "Oh. Look. It's a rock pouch."

Yeah, it's a little pouch in the shape of a hamster, which is amusing given that hamsters have cheek-pouches for storing food. Not sure what I will keep in it but I'll figure something out. Maybe even use it to carry my keys on days when I don't have pockets.

And a little bird that lights up - there are two little contacts on its underside and when you touch it (and your skin completes the circuit) it flashes and blinks pink and purple. (You can't see it in the photo but it is blinking)

birdie

other stuff

And then the rest of the items: a little loom for making those rubber-band-loop bracelet things that was really popular here a year or so ago. (If my niece were a bit older I'd pass it on to her but maybe I'll give them a try....I don't know any eight or nine year old girls who would be into this)

And a tiny charm (like the old cell-phone charms) called Hoppe Chan, which I guess is a jelly drop? Or something? And there's also a set of postcards of Hoppe Chan.

And there's a clip of one of the Neko Atsume cats. I don't play the game but maybe someone who does can tell me which cat this is? (And also, if anyone is absolutely bonkers for Neko Atsume....I MIGHT be able to be talked out of the clip in return for a small trade of something else)

***

In other news, I pulled out Starbuck last night and worked on it some more. I'm ALMOST to the point where I divide off the sleeves from the body.  It feels good to be working on a sweater again even if it's gotten too hot outside now to wear sweaters any more. And it feels good that with a little counting and figuring, I was able to remember where I was in the pattern without messing up.

That is Peaches of the Neko Atsume. I will admit I do love the acts on Neko Atsume. Altho I have renamed most of mine. I think we call that one Sweety. I've been thinking about needle felting some of the different cats as holiday ornaments. Sorta like your mini pony collection. And the first online needle felting instructions I found made Peaches. I think the Japanese love anything with a heart.
