I mentioned Sister Rosetta Tharpe to one of my twitter followers - she had referred to an old Bo Diddley video where one of his (female) backup singers was singing, dancing in rhythm, AND playing backup guitar (Bass? I can never identify those things) for him.
And of course, I thought of Sister Rosetta Tharpe, who was sort of a gospel/blues artist who herself had amazing guitar technique (and style, too) and then I went hunting around on the YouTubes.
I really like this one, it's so joyful. She's probably best known for "Didn't it Rain" (heh. true of here this summer) but I like this song:
