Got a pony

Well, actually, two of them. (And I think it's really funny, given what I mentioned I was planning to do yesterday afternoon).

I came home to find a large envelope in my mailbox. From an attorney's firm. At first I was perplexed and somewhat apprehensive - the only material an attorney ever sent me was paperwork dealing with the purchase of my house, but I know lots of other people who have gotten scary-bad (but usually not unexpected) stuff.

But then I realized (a) the package was from Philadelphia and (b) it was puffy.

It wasn't scary legal papers. It was ponies, from a faithful reader of mine.

See?

Ponies!

Pony tree ornaments!

Both Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie!

I hung them on the tree.

Fluttershy is about midway up the tree, very visible. Pinkie, because of her slightly more stretched-out shape, wound up going on the bottom, down near the teddy bears I have under the tree.

I really appreciated it, especially after the day I had. (And the evening wasn't so hot; apparently an antivirus update screwed my home computer up but good. I tried the "leave it on overnight" bit but at some point it shut itself down. I was able to turn it on this morning and then decided perhaps it was best to do a "normal" shutdown - I had had to do "forced" shutdowns (where I hit the button) previously. I'm hoping it will be okay, or at least okay until after the first of the year when I will probably need to get a new one. (wharrrgarrrbllll. Any suggestions as to brands? I know I want a "true" laptop and not just a pad-type, because I do a lot of typing at home and I hate the on-screen keyboards that some of the pads do. My current machine is a WinBook but I have no idea if they are even still made. I've heard good things about Toshibas....I admit though I really hate the thought of leaving XP (which works well for me) and having to do Windows 8, which even some people I know who like Windows are complaining about. Oh well.)

Depending on how things go with the computer, I may not be able to post any more photos for a while; for some reason I can't upload to flickr from my work box. Or at least I couldn't earlier, I should try, maybe New Flickr, ugly as it is, resolved that problem. (I was able to get the photos for today posted last night between failures.)

ETA: YES YES I CAN UPLOAD FROM MY WORK BOX. Hooray. So even if I'm without a functional home computer for a while, I can still do most of what I want to do from here. And to my delight, I find I have some old, pre-flickr photos still on disk here, which wound up being deleted when my old photo host closed down, so I may just add some of them back into my photo stream. This pleases me.

One piece of good news: I won't miss the luncheon after all. When I told the student I had "somewhere I had to be" at 11:30 and offered an alternate time, her work schedule somehow became more open. Hm.

Also, here's a photo of the cookie plate. I forgot to photograph it before I put the plastic wrap on it but didn't feel like taking it off.

2013cookies

All of the peanut butter ones were gone by midafternoon yesterday, and most of the almond bars....

YAY!

So glad the ponies made it to you in one piece. I was worried yesterday about giving myself away on twitter when you said ALL THE PONIES! I wanted to shout THEY ARE ON THEIR WAY!

Sorry about scaring you with the work address. It is easier to mail from work. Hope you enjoy them.
