The rain actually cleared up long enough this afternoon for me to get out and photograph the quilt top I finished last week. (Prior to this, I was either too busy, or it was too grey out).
(Shown on its side to avoid it dragging more in the grass than absolutely necessary).
Once this was laid out, it was pretty quick to sew up. (The individual "units" that I had to work with were two of the rectangular shapes - if that makes sense). However, like any quilt with a limited color palette and a certain number of repeating prints, there's a challenge in laying it out so it looks "good" - both by scattering the strong colors (the red, here) well enough throughout the quilt, and not winding up with too many big smears of the same color or print all next to each other.
This shows a couple of the feature fabrics. I have a backing already - it's that fox print, only with a blue background; I got a good price on it when Fat Quarter Shop was closing out the line.
The previous quilt top I finished, I said I thought I'd save back to handquilt. I think this one will actually look better done up with one of those meandering designs that machine quilters do - so at some point I'll be sewing up the backing and taking it down to my local quilt shop. (I already have a top - the post and beam top - in the queue there).
I'm also very close to being done with the Pony for my Ravelry friend - all the legs are done and on, and the first ear is done. I do still have to do the hair and the face. I'm thinking of doing bangs and using green eyes; I don't want the pony to look TOO much like a Pinkie Pie clone, even given the coloration.
I also am almost done with Rosedale, however, I decided to stop and steam-block the lower ribbing, because when I tried it on after finishing the collar, I saw that the lower ribbing kept wanting to flip to show the wrong side.
